Jeffrey Dahmer’s Early Life

Jeffrey Dahmer’s Early Life

Jeffrey Dahmer was born in 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the first of two sons born to Joyce Annette and Lionel Herbert Dahmer. Jeffrey’s mother was a homemaker and his father was a chemist.

The family had a happy childhood until Jeffrey’s younger brother, David, was born with severe mental and physical disabilities. David required constant care, which put a strain on the family.

As a result, Jeffrey became increasingly isolated and withdrawn.

In 1967, the Dahmers moved to Ohio so that Lionel could take a job at Cleveland State University. The move only exacerbated Jeffrey’s problems;

he struggled to make friends in his new school and became increasingly interested in dead animals. When he was 14, he killed his first victim: a neighborhood dog that he bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat.

Over the next few years, Dahmer began experimenting with drugs and alcohol and developed a fascination with necrophilia and cannibalism.

In 1978, he dropped out of high school and enlisted in the Army. He was discharged two years later after being diagnosed with a borderline personality disorder.

After returning to Ohio, Dahmer began working at various odd jobs before eventually moving back to Milwaukee in 1982. There,

he committed his first murder, killing 19-year-old Steven Hicks after picking him up hitchhiking.

The murders

On July 22, 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer murdered his first victim, Steven Hicks. Over the next thirteen months, Dahmer killed and dismembered ten more men. He was arrested on July 22, 1992, after one of his would-be victims escaped and alerted the police.

Dahmer’s crimes shocked and horrified the nation. His victims were all young men, most of them minorities.

He lured them with promises of drugs or sex, then drugged and strangled them. He kept their corpses for days or weeks, sexually abusing them and dismembering them before disposing of them. In some cases, he even ate parts of his victims’ bodies.

Dahmer’s brother, David Dahmer, has spoken out about how he is coping with his brother’s legacy. In an interview with People magazine, he said: “It’s been hard…I’m not going to lie.”But he also said that he has forgiven his brother and is trying to move on with his life.

The Aftermath

It has been almost 30 years since Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested for the murder of 17 people. His brother, Mark, spoke out in a recent interview about how he is doing.

“I’m doing OK,” Mark said. “It’s been a long road, but I’ve had a lot of support from family and friends.”

Mark said that he still thinks about his brother and the victims every day. “I try to focus on the positive things in my life, but it’s always there,” he said.

“It’s hard to forgive someone for something like that, but I have forgiven him,” Mark said. “I know he was sick and I don’t think he could help it.”

Despite everything that has happened, Mark said that he still loves his brother and misses him. “I know it sounds crazy, but I do,” he said.

Conclusion

Jeffrey Dahmer’s brother, Mark, is doing well and has forgiven his brother for his crimes. He now uses his experience to help others who have been affected by violence.
