SEO Practices to Boost Your Rankings

Many business owners new to search engine optimization (SEO) may think it’s just about keywords and links. After all, they seem to be the topics most frequently covered in articles on the matter. In reality, those two factors are critical, but there are many other on-page SEO techniques that can help you gain more visibility on search engines like Google and Bing. Let’s look at SEO on-page techniques that you should consider to boost your rankings.

Keyword Research

1) Craft a catchy title that includes your target keyword in it.

2) Make sure the content on your website is easy to read and understand by including lots of headings, subheadings, bolded text, and bullet points.

3) Include many descriptive words in your content (not just keywords).

4) Use the exact words and phrases on every page of your site.

5) Add links back to other pages on the site from each new page you create (these are called internal links).

6) Add links back to related websites from each new page you create (these are called external links).

7) Create a sitemap for visitors who might not know how to find what they’re looking for on the site.

8 ) Link internally between pages within this blog post – and externally with other posts written by me or others I recommend.

9) Revise old content regularly so Google’s algorithm doesn’t think it’s irrelevant and demotes it in search results.

10) Be patient! You can’t see any changes to your rankings or traffic for about three months after implementing these changes.

Use LSI keywords

The first on-page SEO technique is keyword usage. This is where you ensure the keywords are included in your page’s title, heading tags, and content. The best way to incorporate keywords into your site’s content is through LSI keywords or Latent Semantic Indexing keywords. These are often found using synonyms or other words related to your site’s main topic. For instance, if you own a cooking blog, you can use words such as recipes or dishes instead of the word recipe.

The second on-page SEO technique is URL structure. This refers to how search engines perceive links on your page and what they should link back to when someone clicks on them.

Write SEO-Friendly Content

1. Optimize your site with keywords that are relevant to what you sell. Keyword research will help you find the most effective keywords for your content and will also help you find new phrases and combinations of words that may not have been searched for before.

2. Use social media to create brand awareness and promote your website or company’s products. These platforms significantly increase visibility, share information about recent promotions, and get customer feedback.

3. Create an About page on your website that provides detailed information about who you are, what you do, how long you’ve been in business, and contact information such as address and phone number.

Don’t Forget Meta Descriptions

Search engines are the most powerful digital marketing tool for small businesses. And, of course, it’s not just about ranking high on Google–it’s also about getting found in the first place. So consider these techniques that will make your website rank higher and get found more often by potential customers:

1) Optimize your content for keywords that people might be searching for.

2) Create a keyword list and use it as you write posts.

3) Optimize your meta descriptions with compelling text and relevant keywords.

4) Include meta description tags in web page headers, so search engines can pull them up faster when they crawl through pages on your site.

Target Low-Competition Long Tail Keywords

Many people think that backlinks are the most crucial factor for boosting your rankings. While you should, of course, focus on building quality backlinks, there are other things you can do on your site to improve its chances of getting found in search engines:

1) Use Google or Bing Webmaster tools and submit your sitemap. You can also submit a sitemap via FTP if you’re not using either tool. Adding a sitemap will allow crawlers to index your content more easily and keep an updated copy of what’s on your site.

2) Include keywords in titles, headings, URL names, page descriptions and other metadata.

Get Found With Rich Snippets

Rich snippets are a great way to get found in search engines. They can help increase click-through rates and improve your site’s ability to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs). There are many different types of rich snippets, including the following: Author information, Reviews, Bookmarks, and Ratings.

Rich snippets allow you to provide users with additional information about your site without having them leave the SERP. The rich snippet will show up below the title or URL of your page and display content such as the author name, review star rating, or even a quote pulled directly from the page that is being shown.

When it comes to getting rich snippets for your site, there are some on-page factors that you should keep in mind.
